To protect or not
Hey “Shaky”. I hope you don’t mind if I Bowdlerize one of your better know speeches. You don’t? How kind of you.
To be or not to be (screen protexted). Whether ‘tis wiser to protext that shiny new tablet screen with an expensive layer of plastic, or to accept the inherent risks of scratches and other physical risks; there is the question.
Over the years, I’ve gone through the frustraction of covering various device screens with protection. Never fun, but things happen. To screens, I mean. And with the adoption of Two new iPads in the house, I’ve been watching videos. One of the recommendations, across the board, is to get your skiny new screens under cover. Matte. I’m unsure, although once something awful occurs, that hesitation will seem stupid. I mean, if you protect the screen of a smartphone, doesn’t it make sense to use the same wisdom on something larger and shinier?
‘ Yes, reflections are also distractions.
One of the advertisted features of the newest tablet, with its companion stylus, is that you can enter texxt as if you had a paper and pencil. Not exactly, of course; the stylus will “skate” on a slick surface, and all of your best efforts to fake having fine motor control (neat handwriting) go out the window. I still like to type, but a quick jotted scribble seems cool. Very old school.
I’m going to have to think some more about this. Ruminate. Nothing is free, but having the right tools saves time. And time, actually, is all anyone has. I’m starting to realize that my supply is far from unlimited. The latest gadget will not improve my lifetime of hentracks, but miracles do happen. AI miracles.
Who knows? I could get retro and write my blog. In both senses of the word.
