In full view

Today was the designated day for being a tourist in a winter paradise. Each one to profit as he sees fit. I’m no longer willing to “do” things just because I can, so instead of putting on my skates and checking out the lake surface, I watched. From the safety of the room, it looked like great fun.

A change of scenery

In a moment of madness, we left the house and drove into the hills. With some new snow and a change of scenery, you can do much for your own mental wellness. That’s why we call it the getaway.

Transported into a cultural Christmas market

“…look a lot like Christmas”. Seasonal music, projected images on the front of the Basilique, dogs with owners. Icy footing in the dark. Even some huge pine cones (large enough to substitute for a football). Everything one could want after a full day at work.

More notes from the Big City experience

Another day in the exciting life of… no; another exciting day in the life of… there, that sets the tone for my second day in the Big City. Unaccompanied, I set  in search of sustenance and adventure, and managed one of the two.

The sweet sound of silence

Can you put a price on peace and quiet? How about quiet, all by itself? I know what it is worth to me, based on today.

The circle remains unbroken

Get up, get out and move on. Vacation time is over. Find your way home, to begin another year in the service of the almighty dollar. It is so ordained.

No factory tour, this time around

Now, how did that happen? One minute, I’m happily contemplating the ocean. The next, I’m halfway to home, in a government rate motel room. I should pay better attention to what’s goin’ on. I should be grateful. Vacation could be completely over, instead of almost. I still have a few more hours of reprieve.
