The eventual unpacking

The charm of rapid travel is not lost on me. It’s just not something I practice. All winter long, my bus system gets me to and from the office with only a couple of hours as penalty. Come summer; nothing really changes.

Cram the crevices and comfort the dog

Better a dry tent than something else. One of our family camping rules. The option of packing after a heavy dew did not beat the other option. Under a bright summer sky, with a stiff onshore breeze, we broke camp and bid farewell to the folk of summer.

Fancy scoop sacks

Although it doesn’t require much for me to go into town, sometimes the reason is important. Running out of dog food and scoop sacks at the same time; need I say more.

Comparing the quality

Someone (several someone’s, actually) have commented that my recent blog posts and FB references seem to involve the food industry, a lot. Snarky comments, hinting that I eat more often than necessary. I must reply. All the blame should be attached to a certain smart phone. The GPS only notices restaurants. And when we’re inside, after the initial delivery of iced water, I have been known to refuse anything more nutritious. On at least one occasion…

Bean-growing country

Vacation, (my version, at least) is an allegory for real life. By our routine, we shall be known. Sleep, eat, travel, eat some more, look at stuff, look for stuff, sleep. Nothing requiring practice.

Dune domains

Given the number of cottages that are nestled in the dunes, a lot of people have been misled by the movies. I can’t figure out any other reason for the places we spotted, this afternoon.

No eggs any more

Memory won’t get you fed. This morning, we remembered that a particular bakery in Montague “did” breakfast. We went on down, and then we learned that things change with the passing years. Yes, I had coffee and cinnamon rolls, but the bacon and eggs and bacon will have to wait. Although, I did have a good feed of bacon in town, yesterday, so I’ll be OK for another day or two.

A hitching (post)

The big day is now behind us. What with the need to pick up new glasses, and install a trailer hitch, and take delivery of the new bicycle, my partner has been anxious. Me, not so much, but I did have to supervise the project. Hence the big wages and job title.

Virtual faces from my past

How do you remember faces from high school? I mean, once you’ve moved on, not while you still answer to the call of the bell. For most of us, the timeworn tradition of the school yearbook is all we have to remember a lot of people.

On the rack over a rack

Back last week, I was involved in the ordering of a new bicycle. And since the plan did not include riding the new purchase over hill and dale to home, a plan was hatched to provide transport. On our car. Of course, the idea of carrying an extra bicycle came without any hardware, and so the dance begins.
