Can you step over high thresholds?

Sitting down for supper in my favourite dining room (yes, MY dining room), I decided to indulge in a little light reading. At hand, one small flyer, received in the mail, with an offer to go sailing off to foreign lands. I didn’t even unglue the pages; the back cover was enough to keep me glued to my chair.

Getting better at getting out

We’re getting better at getting out; of the city, I mean. This morning, after completing our load out, the GPS received the following quest: “get us out of here and pass near the big box stores”. OK, not exactly that phrase, but the sentiment is what counts. I actually said “go to Costco”, and we did.

A lament by the impatient patients

While sitting in “the waiting room” this afternoon, the familiar lament of the discouraged patient was heard, again and again. When you spend too long, in the queue, you shift from patient to impatient. Not me, of course, but many others.

Through the storm, as planned

My usual rule for winter storms is that they’re best watched through the kitchen window. But, when required, I have also tried the view from a car window. More intense.

Beyond a fork in our road

Pulling into a new campground, after dark, can lead to surprises. In our case, the view this morning was idyllic, so I guess we lucked out. I had made a wise decision, last evening, to not wander in the dark. Behind us, a long descent into a river. I could have found my way to water!

The van has a an addiction

Seems that the new rig has an addiction. A drug called DEF. All of my past experience with auto fuels involved gasoline, and I had the colour codes at the pumps pretty much calculated, to the penny. Now I have to deal with Diesel, and it seems that the environmental arm of government believes in a parallel system. Burn it, exhaust it, clean it and let the smoke fairies deal with the rest. Anyhow, today cost me four gallons of stinky water, and I’ll finish pouring the stuff into a special reservoir with a tiny throat. The bottleneck.

Take another pill and wait things out

There. After a day of downtime, including laundry, meals, personal hygiene and cold tablets, I can feel this affair that triggers paroxysms of coughing leaving my body. I will wave farewell, enthusiastically.

Through the hills to Grandma’s place

This day is almost done. In fact, at home the calendar is already flagging tomorrow (but I will fix that in post-post, in order to maintain the illusion). We were under a heavy sky, all day, which meant rain at frequent intervals.

Not about to play solo petanque

We had to wait for a school bus to arrive, but once the cargo of pupils were clear, we left our safe harbour and returned to the high(way) seas. A full day of travel without incident.

One tablet for each fist, for now

Discount retail… if nothing else, it gave me the chance to update my iPad Mini. Sure, the saving was less than $20, but I can now attach a travel memory to the event, although the data transfer will require my attention for another while. In passing, what’s with the AppStore removing my preferred web browser. Have to figure out what to do with my file collection and bookmarks, as early as tomorrow.
