Outside, by the BBQ, there are many things to notice. That is, if the bugs haven’t learned about the feeding possibilities. This was a wonderful evening; sunshine, gentle breeze, a full tank of propane. Given the rareness of my grill moments so far this summer, that’s just normal. Mundane.

Spent the afternoon on my unsolved puzzle: how to update the RV radio. I feel, after several hours, that I’ve been chasing my tail. Ineffective. I did the usual deep dive into user-created content, and after multiple “maybe this time…”, I am back in the house. Another afternoon. To be fair, the radio does what it is supposed to do. We have sound and maps, and so although I want more, I can accept the status quo. For now.

Last weekend, one of those news stories that offered more questions than answers came across my feed. During the night, a dismembered airplane traveled from Trois-Rivières to Quebec City, on the back of a big truck. I guess taking the wings off really does disable the “flying machine”. Anyhow, the trip was made without incident, except that many people wanted to know the back story. Or the front story. Confusing. Why bring a carcass of a 737 anywhere?

After some careful research, I now understand the billing model for satellite radio. Simple, really. Charge as much as you can, for as long as you can.

Today, the sun was shining; in fact, it made for ideal conditions for my latest science experiment. The postal lady dropped off three equal cardboard boxes, from Eco-Worthy. For a farmer, the day that your crop has ben planted is a significant one. It also is a sign of hope. Long before that first rainfall, the belief that everything is going to be OK exists. I look at the field below here, and I realize that in just a few months, there’ll be enough potatoes to get me through the next winter. All this, from a couple of afternoon’s worth of labour.

I’m sorry to report that the weather forecasts have been wrong. Not only did we not get the big heat they predicted, but the thunder storm that started our way from “up west” petered out close to St. Peters. I was looking forward to something interesting!

I have proof that I’m getting older: there was an ice cream eating contest held, this afternoon, in the immediate area. I did not go. I did not even dream of going. Yes, the flavour was vanilla, which might have been a factor, even if I didn’t know that until after, when the photos appeared on social media. It’s just that I would have had to compete against much younger contestants, and they need all the ice cream they can get.

My childhood was somewhat underprivileged. You see, it wasn’t until I was fully an adult that I discovered the wonder of cold pizza. Perhaps my family was too large for leftovers, or I may have simply missed those meals. Whatever the reason.
