Sunlight as a free fuel
Today, the sun was shining; in fact, it made for ideal conditions for my latest science experiment. The postal lady dropped off three equal cardboard boxes, from Eco-Worthy. Inside, three equal solar panels. Nominally 100 watts each, although that’s an impossible dream, this far north of the equator.
I knew about this, but I kept my dream alive for as long as possible. For my initial tests, I went with the three panels in series. Ups the voltage, to make sure I met the basic conditions of my solar charge controller. And with patience, the “solar generator” was brought to 100% capacity, before everything was shut down and stored away for another day.
I realized that the attached cables were too short for anything practical, but I had already purchased some extension cables. Or had I? Part of the afternoon was spent in one of those fruitless search patterns, until I finally gave up. Exasperated, I ordered a replacement set from Amazon… and then came across my cables, in an unexpected place. I now own two sets, but that is just preparation for a moment when the panels will be outside and I will be elsewhere. No problem is too large.
We’ve been in discussion, here, about increasing our consumption of fish. Without fishing. The local café does takeout, and so my supper was a mixture of cod and haddock. No, they aren’t identical. Both are good, though.
I rechecked yesterday’s efforts in the RV, and I think we’re good to “go”. Within the province, for now. No long roadtrips until later in the season.
