Quiet day here. Had to change a light bulb in the dining room.
Some days don’t offer much “material”. I do watch the news; even there, the pickings meagre. Did you know that the local rail bridges all need to be painted? Do you care? How about a broken water main? To be fair, unless my tap suddenly developed drought, I wouldn’t either. Hard to sell newspapers with material like this. I have a subscription, but even that may lapse in a month or two.

I find a certain satisfaction in the meme “You had one job to do…”, because most of us have had a defining moment or two in the workplace. We try to do our best, to do right, and circumstances twist the plastic hose and…

Note to myself: wear shoes while cleaning in the basement. I didn’t look before stepping around a box, and managed to install a volume control in/on/under my heel. A tiny, designed for the electronic hobbyist, which means really sharp little metal prongs, variable resistor. It didn’t reduce my personal volume level.

A special thanks to the NatGeo web channel, for offering me hours and hours of stupidity mixed with science. Seriously. The program is called Science Of Stupid, and while we wince he explains the concepts in a manner befitting a Grade Eight classroom dude (with a killer sense of humour). I can’t get into details, but my partner asked if it was legal to show people killing themselves…

In life we are trained to “ask the experts”. What to do when the experts adopt opposing camps of opinion? My problem, succinctly. Big money decision with fuzzy information.

As a camper, I know the drill. When in doubt, do laundry. The ratio of campers to machines is high; if you meet the necessary conditions, just do it.

Ever feel that things are harder than they should be? That time is taking its toll, an hour at a time? For a quick cure, watch that classic movie, The Longest Day. Puts things back in perspective. And as I said, around the three hour mark: “Based on current projections, the Allies may win the war“.

While watching an older movie (that means the colour palette goes from black to white), I learned that cars in the period before my birth were, well, larger. How else can I account for a vehicle with three people in the back seat, and three more in the front? And no seat belts, ever. Make my SUV look shrunken.
