Tear it down, or …

posted in media |

While watching an older movie (that means the colour palette goes from black to white), I learned that cars in the period before my birth were, well, larger. How else can I account for a vehicle with three people in the back seat, and three more in the front? And no seat belts, ever. Make my SUV look shrunken.

And for the record, Ava Gardner did look like a movie star.

Enough temporal silliness. The rivers across the river haven’t flooded, yet. The sandbags are still in lace on this side. What a difference a day doesn’t make. Rather impressive shots of the Chaudière, overfull and spilling ice every which way.

Three decades ago, I purchased a VCR to permit time shifting. Unable, due to work schedules, to stay up and watch Letterman, I opted for catching up on my top ten list at suppertime. Fast forward to next year. I haven’t owned a working VCR in ages, and I still can’t stay up late enough to watch the lists. Neither can Dave; he’s also retiring. Late nights do that to you, I guess.

The city is building a new arena, and so the question on “everyone’s mind” made it to the paper today. What happens to the old arena? Good enough for seventy years, but not viable once the new digs are done. Should the city spend a couple of million to tear down the old dome, or should they spend a couple of million and renovate it for some (yet undetermined) purpose? Hard call, in a city without their fetish hockey team…
