Icy water as a symbol

posted in media |

Despite my best efforts, I’ve run out of time. Tomorrow, back to my life as a cubicle creature. Telephone. Network. All the things that define my role in the “working world”. Bus schedule. Limited coffee. Please, as you continue your life of leisure, think of me.

Did I do something to mark today? Hardly. Too hot outside and in. Better that I watch some reruns on cable, catch up on the daily news and try to put some order in my archives, toward future binge watching. After all, the cable system can’t be depended on to schedule to my tastes.

The continent seems to have adopted buckets of ice water as the new symbol of sympathy for a cause. A brief baptism, a token offering and all is well in the world. Hold on. Although the effort is laudable, medical science doesn’t deliver quite so quickly. Sadly, the wheels of the charity machine turn slowly, better to allow those slow off the mark sufficient time to dig deeply. Go ahead. Look up the statistics for medical research offerings, vs actual progress. Depression is a treatable ailment, but the “facts” you uncover may add to the number of affected. Just saying.

Surprised to see son #1 credited for his appearance with his former band. Since they adopted a dance troupe and changed direction, his involvement dropped off. I hope he finds new companions for his own musical journey.

Son #3 is on a road trip. Not much news coming in, but then again I didn’t send home many bulletins when it was my turn (years ago). Rather, he’s building his own bank of memorable moments. Priceless.
