The fences are in place. Toronto is prepared to emulate Quebec, come next weekend.
I’m not going to be there. The system is prepared; not one shout of protest will be heard by the “deciders”, and come Monday next we’ll have a few bad memories and not much else to show for the publicly funded party. Oh, there’s a paltry billion dollars that will have bought some toys and padded the overtime cheques of a large number of police officers; chump change.

The first barbecue of the season is done. I took the sage advice offered by my family, left the bottled sauce in the refrigerator and simply let the set of steaks cook up in their own juices. No charred chew toys. Maybe it’s time to go back to the primitive recipes.

Sadly, you can’t make this stuff up. From time to time, I read newspapers from that big city in the center of our country (not exactly, but that’s why the term eccentric was spawned). To keep informed, etc. Right now, the only news on their horizon involves the G8+20 showcase.

The family has to stop jumping from fright when the front door slams closed. I’ve checked, and the only reason for the sudden change of status is that the dog has decided to investigate passersby. Yes, she is attached to the door (a convenient tie point) and she hasn’t learned to warn the rest of us. No big deal.

I wish that Mr Einstein was still around. Seemed like a smart enough fellow, despite the hair. He understood something about “relativity”, which lays a theoretical framework on the time system we use to regulate our daily dailies. Here’s the thing; maybe I could get an educated explanation about why my time away from the office goes by so quickly, but the hours at work drag by.
