I heard someone say that “those French, they have a word for everything”. A slight overstatement, although they have more words than I do. One that I wish we would absorb into English is “melomane”. Perhaps we already have. I will check.

Living in a house, with a foundation and a back yard is so traditional. And safe, in comparison to life on the road. We’re gearing up for more time away from home, and the sense of security that comes with knowing your peeps is about to get shelved. Temporarily. We want to get away, but only for a bit.

How do you prefer your water? Let’s screen out the smarties; wet is not a great answer. Acceptable, but we can do better. I want to focus on “potable”, so cold and clean are a baseline. There are so many options, when it comes time to clean up. The cold is actually easy, right now.

Friends headed away for the weekend (we are dogsitting), but they turned around and came home because zero visibility is a real thing. Due to the cold, snow particles are smaller. Akin to sugar. And the wind will move that every which way but down. How cold is it, outside? My “station” shows -26 C. Apart from wind chill. A temperature where the mercury bulb hides in a corner. The small birds have ice rings around their eyes. The door gets stuck, closed.

A confession: I don’t really know very much about the automobile, technically. Had then going at me for a lifetime, but I have never actually owned one. However, I do listen to others, and as a result have some vocabulary. Any student knows that words are the foundation of superficial knowledge.

The world of DIY (do it yourself) videos is fascinating. So much enthusiasm, coupled with an ignorance about the rules of cause and effect. With YT, there’s also a sense of mystery. What happened, in the end. Why isn’t there a conclusion to the drama.
