For now, think warm thoughts
Friends headed away for the weekend (we are dogsitting), but they turned around and came home because zero visibility is a real thing. Due to the cold, snow particles are smaller. Akin to sugar. And the wind will move that every which way but down. How cold is it, outside? My “station” shows -26 C. Apart from wind chill. A temperature where the mercury bulb hides in a corner. The small birds have ice rings around their eyes. The door gets stuck, closed.
I am fortunate, because the house is warm. Well insulated. Making heat where there shouldn’t be any (in the cold, cold ground).
Over on social media, the question of the day has to do with heat pumps. Many rental homes have had them installed, by parsimonious landlords. No instruction manuals provided. And now the tenants are perplexed. When you get a call telling you to turn off the h-p and crank the baseboards to the max, while letting the taps drip, there will be questions. The landlord is trying to find a happy balance. If your apartment is colder than usual, go find some socks. Get dressed and go back to bed. It will warm up eventually.
