Chain it to a post

Living in a house, with a foundation and a back yard is so traditional. And safe, in comparison to life on the road. We’re gearing up for more time away from home, and the sense of security that comes with knowing your peeps is about to get shelved. Temporarily. We want to get away, but only for a bit.

Now, watching travel videos comes with reminders. Specifically, bot every place is safe. When your next EV campground comes with a big fence and a guard, every prison movie you have ever seen is on recall. Can we go there, or will someone steal all our stuff. I grew up visiting campgrounds where theft was not a big risk. Your folding chair was safe, but your box of beer wasn’t.

And, in keeping with modern life, we now have some rather expensive toys laying around outside. My  current fret point is that surge protector that is costly to replace, and easy to unplug. What do others do? One method is to get a big dog. Another involves getting a big bike lock. Yes, bikes do get stolen, just like dogs, but the bike (or other toy) can be dumped into a truck bed, with little fear of escape.

I will continue to ponder things (my version of risk analysis. I may skip staying at a park that has fences and guards. My outdoor chairs are enticing, although I could sit down and keep an eye on my stuff. Not right now, as winter continues. I should go watch some more videos, with a different search string.
