No congestion

posted in environment, travel |

The last day before the Big Holiday. Had to get out and do some last minute shopping (to be fair, the ONLY shopping on my list). To my surprise, no congestion. Anywheres. In, around, out; all on my list found and purchased. Where is the stress in that?

Toward the end of the afternoon, but before dark, we joined others at the agreed meeting place, a large and older home close to the city center. Ample opportunity to met, greet, converse, eat. Festive on a family scale. Siblings, progeny, cousins, progeny of cousins, parents, friends of all if the above. A full house, although I didn’t keep count. Hours abd hours of catching up on each other’s live.

When you only “do” something like this, it takes those hours. Finally , just around midnight, I put on my best narrative voce. With the quote from a time honoured text… “he shouted, as he drove out of sight: Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!”

And it was. The dog didn’t join in, due to a Scrooge-like clause in the rental agreement forbidding pets, but he found the car comfortable (I went out every hour and heated things up).

I learned some new family history, learned a little about DJ software, resolved a media centre issue… did my part.

Now for a few hours of downtime before round two, which might involve too much food. After all, it’s what you do during a family gathering. I probably should take some pictures. Maybe next time.
