New ink for the thirsty printers

How long before the household LED bulb gets down into the reality zone, pricewise? I was checking out the stock at the local hardware emporium, and I’m not quite ready to replace my old incandescent (price point $1) with the newest of the new (price point $21). Just pointing out the silliness. Although that one bulb, down in the stairwell to the basement, does seem to burn out way faster than it should. Something to do with vibration. Every time I remember that famous bulb, burning in a barn for decades, I’m jealous.
