New ink for the thirsty printers

posted in history, technology |

How long before the household LED bulb gets down into the reality zone, pricewise? I was checking out the stock at the local hardware emporium, and I’m not quite ready to replace my old incandescent (price point $1) with the newest of the new (price point $21). Just pointing out the silliness. Although that one bulb, down in the stairwell to the basement, does seem to burn out way faster than it should. Something to do with vibration. Every time I remember that famous bulb, burning in a barn for decades, I’m jealous.

Had to go out for ink and toner, this afternoon. An easy $150, and all I’ve done is plugged a hole in the dam. Paperless office? The driving force will actually be the inkless office. I don’t have an accurate page count, but the three printers around here are certainly earning their keep, for somebody else.

I did it. Turned on my transmitter and made a two way contact in CW with one of the Titanic memorial stations across the big pond. I’ve got (potentially) 100 watts of RF, which means that the efficiency of my installation is (at least) fivefold better than the Marconi gear from a century ago.

Watching a J-Lo and Geo movie. She just whacked some fellow with a pottie mouth, using a telescopic baton. Dangerous! The movie, Out Of Sight, isn’t going anywhere fast, but it kills time.

And my chicken soup, made before breakfast this morning was excellent. Some days it goes well, all that chopping and boiling.
