Letting “real words” enter the record

After the last couple of hours (spent watching TV), I understand how a person could be drawn to a life as a courtroom spectator. Apart from the moth to a flame image, I mean.

Queued and ready

Up early; today we had to get in line to make sure we were among the chosen. With that, the culture of the queue.

Nasty words for the general public

The neighbours (not their spelling) are holding elections on Tuesday next, and I can’t wait. Doesn’t matter who wins or loses. Just, please, let the attack ads end.

The magical eye on duty

The flash of a nearby porch light caught my attention. To be fair, in the pre-dawn wait for the bus, almost anything will do that, but when it flashed again, I went into the “scientific mindset” taught to us in a long ago high school physics class. Why did it flash? Why did it flash again?

Trying to re-read the bits and bytes

My distrust of electronic data storage  is similar to that felt by an owner of an automobile that has seen “better days”. Each time I’m able to recover a file of interest, it’s like getting back to the driveway after a perilous road trip.

Buzzing moments

The small details that remind me that I’m really not invincible, not imbued with super powers; no sense complaining about the regular moments of life. Things could be much worse, right.

From a lowly squash to a work of art

Don’t even think of coming around here, you hear!

Another odd juxtaposition of content on TV: the movie The Terminal and a news panel interview with a representative of our government, discussing proposed changes to the manner in which we treat refugees. Fact and fiction.

Know your strengths and choose your battles

In baseball,  it’s referred to as a “double header”. In my workplace, the name is shorter: “Bad luck”. I happened to end up with some overtime duty, on Friday evening and again Saturday morning. Don’t worry for my health, as I still sleep nights, but this weekend will seem very short.

Things could be worse

I’ve tried to stay interested, but my heart just isn’t in the thing.

Tonight, I’m providing technical support for a videoconference. Pretty easy, actually; set up the circuits, wait for disaster, go home when the meeting is adjourned. The catch is that I have no stake in the content, and trying to remain politely on side while a group of elected representatives discuss… I haven’t figured out what, yet. Much like watching any elected group work in the committee format. Think of tuning in one of the less volatile sessions from the national capital region.
