Tempus fugit, non autem memoria

As 2005 draws to a close, I can look back with mixed feelings.

My eye surgery is a success, in that I can still see and maintain my “pressure” with a good old mechanical technique.

Wireless connectivity

We’ve been a “wireless” household now for several months. With the arrival of a pair of laptops came a router, and a wireless print server, and people surfing the ‘Net from the couch instead of the kitchen table; true progress.

Snow by the kiloton

The snowstorm of Christmas Day 2005 is being cleared from the neighbouring street, which means that the big trucks have begun their parade. Roughly every seven minutes, another machine applies its “Jake” as it corners by our house, the floor vibrates from the passage outside, and another few cubic metres of snow head off to the party.

Practice makes perfect

Another server, another program, another blog started.

Like music, writing must be practiced; if your instrument is hiding, both physically and metaphorically, then the sound will betray you every time. I have another chance to practice, and this time the efforts are in a “SOUNDPROOF PRACTICE AREA”; my laptop. Let’s see if I can become a proficient student in the new year.
