Wireless connectivity

We’ve been a “wireless” household now for several months. With the arrival of a pair of laptops came a router, and a wireless print server, and people surfing the ‘Net from the couch instead of the kitchen table; true progress.

It’s not always obvious though; WEP vs. WPA, Mac filters that have to be reset every time a new machine joins the family, wireless printers that forget where things are (hint: look 5 cm away). This morning, a Nintendo DS is trying to get on board the train, and it’s slow progress.

Still, I really appreciate the convenience of no Cat-5 umbilicals…
