Art in a camp car

The tent dog had me out for sunrise. OK, he had an ulterior motive which involved touring the campground, but the sleep cycle was broken. Within hours, I was drinking French press coffee with cinnamon buns.

Real fish instead of processed whatever

Blame it on the rigors of vacation, but I stayed up past my bedtime. Six hours past. And in recognition of the years I’ve accumulated, it is tough. Might take me the next week or two to resynchronize my diurnal ticktock. We’ll see. The hotel mattress was very comfortable. We came very close to hitting the checkout time limit.

Cross that bridge when you come to it

The continental breakfast in the chain motel world is really a way to ensure weight loss. Yogurt with chemisty. Bad black coffee. A bagel that did not withstand the hardening step (some refer to it as toasting lightly). A newspaper from another province. Enough already! Next time, reduce the room cost by two bits and let me choose a resto after my own tastes. Please.

Road notes

Mentally, I was ready to leave long before sunrise. The car had been loaded, virtually, over and over again. The dog was ready; he always is. All that remained was for the driver to join our team. And so, before rush hour, we were crossing the bridge.

The actual preparation day

This day just got away from me. Looked at the clock and saw that 23:99 was upon me, and realized that there were still things to get done. Like this. I’m in preparation mode, for travel. Distracting time of the summer.

You can get off but not on (here)

As a footnote (?) to yesterday’s post, the new computer seems to be working well. When I checked at 04h30, the driver’s seat was filled. When does son #3 sleep? To be pondered. Little matter. He has to go to work; I don’t.

Reincarnate me as the next Connolly

Not every performance needs to be world class. I know; some of you take deep pride in everything you produce, and only the best is good enough. I’m too old to fall into that trap. Once in a while, just getting the job done is sufficient.

Lessons from the horse opera

Call me easily distracted. Put it down to flights of fancy. After reading a short article in the daily newspaper, I want to visit a museum. Several museums. The only defining point is that they must be in Newfoundland. To any avid readers, and you know who you are, it’s time to head back. This time around, we’ll offload the camping gear (which we won’t use) and the extra space will be donated to the dog, or the boy, or both. Just a thought, given that we’re now down to less than three months before vacation.

No need to ever see daylight

A good bagel and coffee is a drawing card for me. We returned, to exactly the same place as yesterday and it was every bit as good. Different folk about; the weekend draws a less tortured population than the moneymakers on the Monday-to-Friday treadmill. And with food covered, we headed into  the city centre by the tunnel system.

Crowded city streets

Second day on our big city adventure. Many things aren’t like “at home”. First rule of thumb: bring money. Nothing free here. Not even the ‘net.
