No need to ever see daylight

posted in travel |

A good bagel and coffee is a drawing card for me. We returned, to exactly the same place as yesterday and it was every bit as good. Different folk about; the weekend draws a less tortured population than the moneymakers on the Monday-to-Friday treadmill. And with food covered, we headed into  the city centre by the tunnel system.

Montreal has a great network of shopping in the downtown. I get the feeling that a condo dweller might not see the light of day for weeks on end. Ditto for the panhandlers; we watched several security trying to run a pincer movement on one that was particularly visible. Before venturing further afield, we opted for an excellent meal at the chain of restauration that has a stamp of approval from son #2. SMS support, in proof. No brew of the desired sort? He has it in stock at his branch.

The plan for today involved a visit to the Cinetheque, and we made it all the way  to  the front door where the schedule showed us to be several hours early. Not good. Second choice fell to the National Library. I renewed my membership, and the display we wanted to visit was several weeks out of date. Can’t win for trying. Segue for coffee and a detour. I returned to the music store and added a USB controller to my eventual projects space. Not the easiest parcel to carry back to the hotel, but where there’s a will…

On another plane, visiting high end jewelry stores is a sure test of your dress code adherence. The security guards just happened  to say hi, in turn. I did see a piece of furniture designed for the gamer (as long as your vision includes roulette, backgammon, poker, chess and others that I didn’t recognize. And couldn’t afford.

And then we waited for a train to carry us back to where we belong, which it did. Home before bedtime. Somewhere along the way, I was stung on my upper arm by a wasp. Punctuation mark for a sleepy traveller.
