Reduce that pile

posted in environment |

The provincial waste management system, with its arcane set of procedures comes with one really good feature. Once a month, I get to reduce the pile of cardboard boxes that accumulate here to something that can be moved to the curb. Strangely therapeutic, actually. Amazon delivers, and the big truck takes away.

And with that job completed, I’m back to working on more pressing tasks. For instance, trying to reduce the provincial population, present and past, into a database. Slow going, because the goal is to have an index that shows who belongs (belonged) to who. Or should that be whom?

The dog is fascinated by new tracks in the front yard. We know that a passing fox left a mark, but the dog is trying to CSI things, without the benefit of having seen the visitor. He really doesn’t “get” it. I wish he’d pay as much attention to squirrels and pigeons, frankly. They’re highly visible, and he could earn his shares in kibble futures.

I’m not tuned into “forex”, but reading that the UK pound is at a low point leaves me wondering: is this the time to get back on ebay and see what might be available in the used Morse key market? If I could make a deal for a Marconi, I’d be a “happy camper”.

And on TV… I have no idea. Don’t have a program guide, or control of the remote. Best that I put aside my curiosity and settle for a good book or something. Prevent any confrontations.
