A lockdown tale

posted in history |

Almost four years ago, we went on a little getaway to Montreal. Fun. Why I bring it up, now, is that I’ve finally seen the movie that explains the news stories from that period.

You see, there’s a race that is run annually in Boston. We had turned on the TV in the hotel room and found that there was only one story in constant circulation, and it was devoid of details. An attack, and the subsequent chase to arrest the perps. And all we really knew was that the city went into lockdown, for days.

Well, the movie Patriots Day goes to great length to fill in the backstory. I think I understand what unfolded; the use of the “real people” at the end helped a great deal. Also makes me hesitant to look at crowd scenes in the same way, again. No, not paranoia. Consider me instructed in the way things can go.

Meanwhile, we had another day of flurries, with more birds than usual coming by the family snack bar. I have this fantasy, where the hawk (seen circling) actually drops in for a short visit. My camera at the ready, of course. Might be my best chance at a spot in some famous nature magazine.

If MSM (main street media) has the story correct, the head of the CIA has asked the incoming president to “temper” his Twitter feed. I feel like we’re starting a new year in junior high. Is a dress code next? Seriously, has the Western world ever had such a ‘noob’ waiting in the wings?
