Riding “a foregone conclusion”

posted in food, politics, technology |

Time to rest and reflect, while I give thanks. The prep for tomorrow’s meal is done, a day early. Not having to anticipate a sprint to get things ready is worth noting.

There’s something going on in Toronto, involving their baseball team. Seems to have millions (literally) of people in a strange euphoric street dance. Mind you, the game tonight could reset the pendulum, and the city might be back in the “also ran” column tomorrow. I’d like to see their joy continue a bit longer; not because I even watch the sport, but because the city loses its “we’re the center of the world” mood when anticipating defeat.

All of the (major) political parties now have platforms in print. In a more perfect world, I’d feel obliged to sit down and read each one, with a highlighting pen and historical footnotes. However, I realize that my voice is one in millions, and this riding is seen as “a foregone conclusion, with a certainty of 99%”. I’m just along for the ride; soon, I can tune into my favourite media outlet and go through the wailing and gnashing of teeth with the rest of the nation.

Early this morning, a propane delivery truck showed up in the driveway. First time for everything, I guess. The two cylinders, put in place earlier this week, came with nothing more than a token amount of product. This was the real delivery. With any luck, I might not see the truck for year(s) to come… after all, the whole point of the game is to never have a big storm that knocks out regular power (right!).
