Watching some valiant hill climbing

posted in economy, environment, food |

We were on time for our breakfast break, despite the marathon passing by the front door. Until you look at the area from the viewpoint of those about to go up yet another long hill, the idea that this area is free of summits seems reasonable. I wish I could ignore gravity.

Another afternoon in a monthly family history meeting. Smaller group, but the questions were on task. As well, the project idea was validated by all present; now to await the funding announcements.

A fishing tragedy, south of here, where two boats collided. Took time for the real news to displace the imagined; the local police confirm that two young men died. Even as we sat down to supper, in a local restaurant, the conversations were dialed into one subject. Lot of misinformation circulating.

Our ride back along the North side from the restaurant was in scenic mode. No rain falling. Multiple osprey sightings. I love where I live.

The G7 (G6+1) summit is winding down. Little to brag about other than the exorbitant price of the whole show. The US is more adamant than ever that we (the rest of the world) have to sacrifice our regional economies to its view. I don’t want cheaper milk and cheese, if it requires that my access to healthy product goes down the drain. Ditto for so many other things. Actually, there seems to be little intent to “give the family farm away”, just yet. You can’t drink dollars. Or find jobs to replace the ones you send south.
