But, are you sure?

posted in education |

The frost warnings continue, which explains why “my field” hasn’t been planted yet. Somehow, the clock regulating the change of seasons has deregulated (just like the cuckoo clock in the dining room that seems to announce the hour, just not when it should). I guess the farmers have to depend on summer going overtime.

In a moment of civic conscience, I completed a survey form (came by mail) asking about my direct involvement with local job retraining. Took me longer than expected to show that I had none; the questions kept going back to a “but are you sure” fallback mode. No, I haven’t tried to upgrade my retirement skills. I am quite capable of staying chill, napping on demand. Don’t need a course to improve my output. The questionnaire did offer to place my name in a draw for $250. Winning an unexpected windfall would be good (for me).

The war before the war continues… trade imbalance, blah blah blah… tariffs not retaliatory, blah blah blah… unfair attitudes. Let the record show: I, like the majority of Canadians are quite satisfied with our dairy management system. We see no reason to shut down our farms so Wisconsin can flog another few rounds of cheese. In passing, American Cheddar is not as tasty. OK?

Some new birds in the front yard. No, I didn’t see them, but there are recent photos. More than one variety of mockingbird? I did not know that (until today). Personally, I’m waiting for a cardinal. Seen one, once, a long time ago. Due for a renewed acquaintance.
