Tiny territorial warriors
Tiny, territorial warriors; all hyped up on sugary water and ready to defend “their” place at the bar. Outside, the sound reminded me of whipper-snipper wars. Nothing so mechanical – the hummingbirds were at it, again. This time, one went down for the long count.
I had time to go and get my camera. Frame up a few shots, before he/she shook off the stars and whirred away, like a lively drone. My rural entertainment.
Hockey is over for another few months. The team valiant (the Golden Knights from Las Vegas) fought to the final goal, but the big cup is headed off to DC. Fitting, for a sport that has moved to the US in every way possible.
In politics, Ontario has a new government-elect. I hope they’ll be as jubilant, a year hence. Promises without any possibility of their being kept will quench the party spirit, even if the “a dollar a beer” cans appear on the shelves of the local corner stores. As for the reductions in health and education… doesn’t matter when your tax bill drops by a few bucks. A dollar a beer.
Took the time to drill down through the menus of my GPS, this afternoon. Among other things (the best day to fish and the area of my back yard), I learned that I can change the traditional lat/long display to one of Maidenhead squares. From the view of amateur radio, that’s important. Saves looking things up on a wall chart, over and over and over again.
