Am I ready? I guess…
If I only knew how, I’d start some kind of countdown running. After all, the calendar changes in less than five hours. Am I ready? I guess…

Is this a good example of a conditional sentence: “If you sit in the dark in a comfortable chair, with soothing music playing in the background, you will fall asleep.” Even without the question mark, I’ve answered my own question. Scratch another productive evening.

From time to time, the Google logo changes. Serves as a shout out to special anniversaries. Today, this Island took notice, because our own avatar was highlighted, several times. By tomorrow, there’ll be something else, but today, we applauded, locally.

Saw a great quote, recently, dealing with the enthusiasm the average employee has for that day just before some time off. Call it “Friday”. I’ve been there, and if it wasn’t for that final sprint before down time, most of us wouldn’t even bother. I’m not counting those who are responsible for other life (think “farmer”) with a job that runs seven days per. No, this is the traditional “pay me and I’ll continue to toil on your behalf” employee. Which brings us to me, here and now.

When you see the term “a year ago”, there’s imprecision involved. Obviously, a reference to an anniversary. But, was it date-to-date a year, or day-to-day, a year. See what I mean?

If asked for an ideal employment situation, I would offer up the case where personal interest and professional opportunity run on parallel tracks. Preferably, close together. My own history has stayed on this course, for the better part of a lifetime.

One plus about life in a small place is that your neighbours actually know who you are (and care). Case in point: this morning, we received a document requiring a notarized signature. I called the local lawyer’s office, and received an appointment for less than ninety minutes later, that same day. Drove down, met him in the doorway. Signed, sealed, delivered; in less time than it takes to find an available attorney in the Yellow Pages, elsewhere.

Seems that my getting connected frustrations have caught the virtual ear of the firm concerned. I’d love to say concerned firm, but that is a very different thing. Anyhow, I decided to let the “social media” monitor know my side of the story, and there’s a hint that, maybe, someone on the inside will try to move the hands of their clock. We’ll see.

I’ve been watching some educational material on TV; the program is “The Science Of Stupid”. In retrospect, thankfully my experimental period of life (roughly corresponding to high school daze) had a limited budget.

Despite my careful study of how my betters live, yesterday, no servants joined the household overnight. Maybe next year.
