Marking the anniversary
When you see the term “a year ago”, there’s imprecision involved. Obviously, a reference to an anniversary. But, was it date-to-date a year, or day-to-day, a year. See what I mean?
Anyhow, today marked the anniversary of my retirement from a career, in the day-to-day sense. I finished on a Friday, so I’ll use the onset of a weekend to mark the time. Not quite 365 and a fraction, but close enough to trigger memories. My decision to retire was my own, and my decision to continue is also squarely on my shoulders. Time to enjoy what time I have left, and all that jazz.
Today, the fancy weed whacker we ordered yesterday arrived. Give credit to the amazon behind such things, but we had working product in what seems like a very short time period. No year wait on their orders. I haven’t wheeled it around, yet; that honour belonged to the lawn geek in the family, but I heard the familiar whizz, and the report is that it worked as it should.
We now have health cards, almost. Three cards in yesterday’s mail; one with a typo on the name. What were the odds? According to the civil servant, a corrected version will be issued, without delay, so I guess we now have the right to visit a hospital, or a clinic, or any other outlet of public care. That’s a very good thing.
I missed the debates last evening, as planned. Apparently the most important catch phrase came down to two words: “Old Stock”. Nothing to do with beer and everything to do with a divisive mindset.
