They are gone. The wasps. We had blasted the nest with nasty stuff, and waited through the first signs of winter, but there was still doubts. Today, with a paint scraper and a compost bag, I moved whatever was still there out to the bin, just before the bin buggy went by. Done.

I get it. The wind was blowing, this afternoon. However, just because I picked up the guitar, it wasn’t a validason to turn off the power. We know how that game is played. Yes, I had “genny” for company, and we loaned out our kitchen. Just a note, though. The winter will seem really long, if this is the dance. Come on! Fix the system.

The clocks showed 01h03. I checked. And that betrayed a key detail. They (faceless, anonymous) had cut the power. Late. Three minutes, but a lot could have happened.

For supper, burgers. With some fresh tomatos, sourced just outside our front door. Yes. The harvest window is still open. Actually, my weather confusion is pronounced. The temperature up to 17C this afternoon. The feeders are full of birds (seed, as a bed layer). There are rumours that the Deere will need to do some circles. No pretty yellow flowers, but I didn’t do a deep search, so perhaps. People wandering along the beach. This is not the climate of my youth.

Although I can walk across the room without stubbing my appendages, I don’t step. In fact, I came across a video, this very afternoon, that offered a beginner class in the “Strathspey”. Don’t understand the term. Can’t match it to my gait. Or canter. In fact, I did the obvious thing: I forwarded the link to my sister. If she finds the video to be relevant, she can come for a visit. And teach me. No need to wait for summer. It was 16C today.

Parenting: almost everyone has a couple, and the lore surrounding things to do/not do are available in books. One simple rule is “do not forbid”. Actually, you do, but don’t be over the top about things. Explain the what and the why. Lay out the consequences. Move along.

Just took the bin, out to the curb. Roadside. Whatever. Dressed as I have for the last half year. Shorts, tee. Time to accept that the seasons have not forgotten old habits. It was, as they say, freaking cold out there. I know, we still have some wiggle heatroom, but winter is coming. It doesn’t matter that the leaves are still on the trees. That can change, quickly.

So many hours. I’ve lost count. Math class. Compulsory. And now I’m coming to grips with just how little I received in the way of practical skills.
