A trivial night
We did it! Tip-to-tip today. A round trip time in excess of nine hours, although we did stop to visit some stuff. Oh, and order the deck furniture. A good day, actually. We saw blankets being made, and yarn being spun. We caught a glimpse of the lighthouse on the sandbar. Even the dog seemed satisfied.
The day didn’t end there. This is Trivia Night, which happens occasionally. Our team is local, and we won, again. No big prize (some chocolate bars) but there’s a satisfaction in digging out “facts” from the past. For a change, getting older is a bonus.
Of course, evenings are still chilly. The meteor shower will not be high on the priority list. The dog actually raced to get one of the heated seats, after spending a trivial amount of time as a seat cushion. I think he’s looking forward to sun and sand.
Must find the sapsucking apparati; the first of the ruby-throated hummingbirds have been reported. I do get a kick out of people across the continent observing and announcing their return. More joy than with robins (who may actually spend more time in the area than we realized).
The province is gearing up for lobster fishing to start. Neat to see someone’s new fleet soaking in a small pond, up west. Shows that they take preparations very seriously. At our one wharf-stop, the trucks were everywhere, as the guys got those little needed items that the Co-op brings in for this time of the year.
