Upsell

posted in economy, media |

Got through that storm without pain. Unlike elsewhere; the “message bell” came up, after midnight, when son #1 described his local situation as apocalyptic! Perhaps an exaggeration, but Quebec and Ontario did learn that winter “ain’t over ’til it’s over”.

And with that out of the way, on with life. Still finding old movies to watch. The period from just before my birth is especially interesting, given that the cars seem familiar, and the kitchens are definitely low-tech. What, you have TWO taps above your kitchen sink? Rich folk! The B&W adds a certain gritty look to things… I know, we had colours when I was young, but not on TV.

In the news, a story about how the big banks are guilty of overselling customers. My only contact is through an occasional stop at the local ATM; no opportunity for upsell, there. I mean, the fees are too high for what I get as service, but the bank(s) are not in a position to convince me of anything that might cost me extra.

I’m falling behind in my various TV series watching. Going to have to do some serious blitz efforts, soon. Meanwhile, the hard drive remains my storehouse. I read that for the young folk growing up in Netflix households, few even know what an onscreen advertisement IS. I’d like to get to that point. Imagine a world where the volume doesn’t rise for a minute, several times an hour. Or that I don’t realize how I should have a newer (fill in the blanks).
