Saved by the thaw
Another item stricken from the todo list. That laptop is now in the hands of Canada Post; I paid just over $40 for delivery by early next week, with tracking and signature. For a change, I couldn’t have done this job more cheaply by myself. Having the original shipping carton was reassuring, because if it didn’t destruct on the way here from China, it should make the trek (truck?) to Upper Canada just fine.
Outside, the temperature has been up just enough that I won’t have to shovel the deck again (in the short term). I’m still a little stiff from my last effort (and impending old age). Any time a slow melt can save me smearing one of those magic salves on my back and joints is a thumbs-up moment. Did I mention that reaching my back is no longer as simple as when I was young?
This afternoon, YouTube provided my entertainment. I pulled up an early Hitchcock effort, called Sabotage, and found the whole thing quite entertaining. So many things that we can no longer do: try putting a few grains of sand in the gears at your local electrical generation station. No, go ahead. Bet you can’t get in there. Anyhow, I’m going to call up some more of the B&W world this evening; the colours aren’t as prone to fading, or something. Also, I get a kick out of seeing how simply things went a half century ago (or more). A theatre with chairs that weren’t anchored to the floor? Really?
