Hisses around the virtual room

posted in media, technology |

Bewildering, the variety of screw types and sizes that are stocked in my local hardware store. And this is a small outlet; I imagine that the factor is related to the size of the city. I had to go looking for some small washers, this afternoon, to avoid resizing a sack of machine screws, and spent far too long trying to make a choice. Got home, and still wasn’t completely satisfied, but there are many workarounds possible.

Actually, the afternoon was more relaxed, in that I watched the movie “Snowden“. Having worked in IT, the movie surprised me. No hyperbole. With enough money, and the force of law behind you, it is possible to monitor activity on a small network. Upscale the activity to world class, and you end up with a decently entertaining movie. It helps that the storyline is based on fact, and is open ended. “Snowden 2”, anyone?

Almost went for a walk, this evening, but daylight ran out too fast. There is that bright, shiny moon although the coyotes seem to have that as their own. I’ll wait for another day.

With the installation of new speakers, yesterday, I still had one more task to complete. My receiver comes with a small microphone on the end of a wire. You place the mike in your usual chair, and then you press “calibrate” on the blipper. Several minutes later, after a concert of hisses that move around the virtual room, the analysis is completed. My balance is set, and so, apparently, is the equalization. Akin to magic.
