Menus and hymnals

posted in politics |

Just learned from a TV documentary (Suzuki et al) that sea otters must eat 25% of their body mass each day. Has to do with maintaining body temperature. That consumption figure reminds me of something: teenagers and the home refrigerator.

We headed south, early this afternoon. Took the roundabout path (which has nothing to do with the two roundabouts en route) to try out a new restaurant down in the Murrays. River or Harbour, who knows? As I said, we took roads that change numbers, and I intend to find a good topographic map to decode the whole experience.

Anyhow, this is off season, and we did not have to wait for a table. Or staff. In fact, it was akin to having your own private restaurant. I didn’t try for exotic fare, given a perfectly serviceable meatloaf on the daily special list. After we’d dined, and checked out the hymnals in the facilities, we were off to find a shorter way home. Didn’t do badly, and we were back in the driveway before dark. Given the way that days are shorter and shorter, that’s worth mentioning.

In the provincial legislature, we’ve had two days of questions about the way the elected government is pushing the results of the plebiscite into a dark corner of house. Seems that those who got in by the grace of a minority (or is it a plurality) don’t want to risk not getting in again. If the Twitter feedback is a reference, it might take more than willpower and FPTP, next time. Scorn the voter? Not the wisest way to assure public support.
