Cool, dimly lit; everything it should be

Couldn’t figure out why the code wouldn’t flow… for some reason, my efforts to connect a trio of Morse keys was getting me nowhere. Tested the connections, and all seemed sound, except that there was no sound. Downloaded and read the relevant pages in the manual. Tweaked menu settings. Changed cables. And then, after lifting one key and setting it down again, everything clicked. Just one of those mysteries.

Anyhow, the lawn tractor came home and drove around in concentric circles for the afternoon, while I tested life in the basement. Cool, dimly lit; everything a future “man cave” should be. If I’m MIA, look below.

This evening, the thought of reheated chili didn’t fit with our relaxed state. Instead, a drive over to Naufrage, for the first plate of scallops and clams this season. They’re ready for summer; so are we.

Have to point out the passing of Ali and Howe this week. Those were names from my “younger days”; to be fair, I don’t have a roster for the present. Great athletes are NOT a dime a dozen. The old adage of “many are called”, etc. is pertinent in the domain of professional sports. These weren’t the only great ones, but their names have been familiar for close to half a century. Although neither still competed, they traced lines in the sand that few others will ever cross.

Time to get ready for sleeping, as I’ve been put on notice that we have another social breakfast in the morning. No cinnamon buns and good coffee for me. I’m going to chow down on a fat omelette in a public place.
