Pull back from the brink, in time

posted in humour, politics |

Never forget that today’s happenings are tomorrow’s history. As someone that researches the “who is related to whom” (did I get that right?), part of the game is to read through old newspapers. Looking for mention of particular individuals… and it is a happy side effect that newspapers are as interesting, after the fact, as when they were first published.

I don’t want to sit and read through scanned pages from before my birth, without direction. But, believe me, there are stories that merit the read, even after all those involved are gone. Go ahead, try it. Find an old online newspaper, and follow a story for a day or two. Isn’t that just as interesting as the current broadsheets?

But enough of my quiet pleasures. Another day of curling, with some foggy weather outside. I considered shopping for some sort of fog alarm, just in case this continues. The temperature, locally, climbed to 7C, by mid-afternoon. Right now, the windows are rattling (a little), and the snow cover is dropping. Might have to consider getting ready for lawn care season early this year.

This Hour Has 22 Minutes just presented a medley of in-house music videos (satire applied) and I am impressed! These are definite “watch me again” moments from our national comedy squad. Good tunes, great lyrical rewrites. Proof that there is something to take the place of Wayne and Shuster. My age may be showing, based on that sentence…

Stateside, even the Republican elite are starting to worry: what have they unleashed with their Trump card play? Can they pull back from the brink, in time?
