Apply sparingly, said everyone
I’m at a loss for words. Last evening, I noted the arrival of an individual on our back deck. Neither man nor beast, but quiet and polite. This morning, we found the “body”, broken in pieces, lying there. Was he (it) a victim of climate change, or something more sinister. I don’t want to notify the authorities; they’d want to know if I’d offered suitable shelter. The enigma.
On to other things. Did I mention we had a beautiful day? Not yet? OK, well the mercury rose to almost double digits, and the melt was everywhere. That will change, over the next few hours, but to date this has been a clement winter. Over in Ireland, celebration of St. Bride’s Day, which to some is the first sign of spring (we get our secular version tomorrow at dawn). The local newspaper reported the “snowfall to date”, and we are just short of two metres since season start. Surprising, given the faint traces covering my yard.
This afternoon’s post brought my ordered container of Proofide. The saddle has already received a thin layer of this balm (actually wax and other oils), which should lead to my aged leather taking on a whole new allure. After all, if the manufacturer says so, it must be so. There were supporting videos on YouTube, all with the warning to apply sparingly. Given the price of the stuff, I will follow obediently. Maybe it was the postage, or the relief of not having to raid local hives, but the value had better be reflected in the value, if you know what I mean.
