Packed for emergencies
Worms, beware. The first robin of the year is afoot.
There are only two ways to receive a delivery at your door. Either you sleep in, and miss the low flying run-by completely… or you get up bright and early, and then wait for the whole day for the truck to park at the end of the drive. I chose the latter.
We’ve taken delivery of furniture that requires a minor amount of assembly; or is it, a minor degree in assembly? I’m unsure, but the living room has shrunk in size: many large bundles of bed and shelving. The Murphy bed/bad. We intend to place the cartons, unwrapped, into our moving van and then tackle the real job at the other end. Sounds wise. Only time will tell. I’ll save myself embarrassment, and wait for completion before posting pics.
The other big job (all things are relative) was to load the car with the right baggage. I decided to learn from the “United Breaks Guitars” video, and transport a fair part of the musical instrument inventory with us. Packed in among things like air mattresses, sleeping bags, pillows; the cushioned approach. That way, I won’t see them pitched into a big truck and then pitched out at the other end.
We’re also taking what serves as “camping equipment” at other moments of the year. Enough little bits to prepare a meal or three, and save the budget for other wants. If I had a bigger rig, I’d take even more stuff. The limiting factor came down to the tools: a shovel, a sledge hammer, a saw. And a fire extinguisher. Ready for whatever emergency.
