Frost to fog to rain

posted in environment, travel |

Despite the frost and the fog and the rain, we played the travel game today. The night was restless, so before 05h00, the car met the road. We watched the sun rise, and disappear – into dense, nacreous vapours that caused everything to vanish, beyond our moving bubble.

This wasn’t a day to dally. We wanted to arrive before businesses closed for the afternoon, so lunch was a brief burger binge and gas stop. By mid-afternoon, we passed the former antenna site in the Tantramar and tacked north toward the bridge. A wall of fog to our left and floating growlers to our right…

We met with the contractor, to settle a few questions and then set off to explore the snowscape. Lots melted; lots more to go. The fields are a long way from plow-ready. In town, my ordered spear with a number was ready. Seriously. I had a mental image of a gory accident, and the forensics team trying to explain why we had been skewered in seat.

More appointments to arrange, and a new couch to order. The truck, on Friday, will be pretty much dedicated to my new toys. With continuing rain, we headed to Souris for supper before arriving home.

I say that, without reserve. The house looks as I hoped. The basement is a work in progress. Sump pumps are noisy but needed. The high ceilings precluded random light bulb installation, but I have “all the time in the world” to take care of such minor details.

Tonight, we are campers with purpose.
