Making a list

posted in politics, travel |

Worm, beware! The robin is afoot! Spotted my first red predator this morning, although I may have heard one last evening. In any case, that’s the sign that spring is also afoot. Better to trust nature than something as constructed as a calendar.

I’m trying to decide what constitutes “absolutely necessary” for this week’s road trip. There’s the sledge hammer, and the fire extinguisher. A selection of rolled paper products. The AeroPress, with some coffee as an incidental. There’s an idea: go buy some more coffee, while it is high on the attention ladder.

… there. Did you even notice that I was AFK (that’s tiny tot slang for “Away From Keyboard”)? Now have a supply of ground beans from Costa Rica, along with a couple of frozen meals. We’re trying to empty the larder, and some things are actually cheaper in the “solid as a rock” format. So, back to making a list.

The cartons of small appliances might be a possible space filler. They have to go down, one way or another. And how about fragile musical instruments? A good guess is that when we chase the van, we’ll have a lot more important stuff to take along: dog, son #3?? I still have to get this stuff past the “load master”, but my reasoning is sound. Movers break guitars. Or is that airlines? Same thing.

The Duffy Trial is hearing from the PEI witness selection. So many people, attached at the hip to the money machine. I wonder if they ever consider the justice of charging hundreds of dollars to clip from newspapers or skim read speeches that will only be heard by an assenting audience?
