The pieces are now available

Let my record show: I started early, and I watched for hours, but I never saw it (them) arrive. I did see daylight triumph over darkness. I did watch the sea respond to increasing wind levels. I did figure out which way was which.

The webcam feed from the bridge was fascinating, but the trucks either went by during my breaks to brew coffee and peel an orange, or the passage occurred after my interest had fallen to record low levels. Nevertheless, an email late this afternoon confirmed that the two sections of a modular home have arrived on the Island.

In keeping with Gestalt, “the whole is greater than the sum of the parts”. The basis of a modular home, is it not? Sometime over the next couple of days, a crane will place the sections (in the correct order and orientation) on my foundation. Let me correct that, for emphasis; My Foundation. Soon, a home (with the associated responsibilities and debt). And it pleases me, greatly.

Next in the list of “things to do” will be a quick road trip. After the coming Nor’easter… Snow tires, do your duty. My plan involves a photo op, and meetings with people that are, up to now, voices on the other end of the phone line. In an ideal world, the appliances will also get delivered; rarely do things reach a grade of “ideal”. I wonder if reality will mirror imaginary?

And here, we finally have a reason to get busy. No more wondering when. There’s an imposed schedule.
