Knowing what to buy, before purchase

posted in education |

Remember when people used to calculate their biorhythms? Although I don’t subscribe to cycles in my daily routine, I believe that my “moving preparations” have reached a low point on the sine wave. A full month no appreciable progress. Go ahead; blame it on the surgery, but the effect is the same. Time to get back to boxing and throwing (away).

The house might “cross over” tomorrow, if the winds are clement. No need for a family road trip just yet. Check back in a few days. As long as the snowfall accumulations stay within “sneaker” depth, things should be OK. Hate to have to shovel the way in for a big truck.

The collection of user manuals (for things I don’t own yet) continues to grow. Consider this as an educational imperative. If I appear to know what I’m talking about, the sellers might hesitate before going into “flim flam” mode. If you wish, you can also assign the label “faint hope”…

Seriously, there are some big ticket items on my shopping list: water furnace, generator, driveway… In fact the list has taken on scary dimensions. And of course, along with being replete with things I’ve never bought before, I want them all yesterday. The odds are not stacked in my favour! At least the rationale for each item is clear (in my mind).

More articles in the weekend newspaper about the best time of year to buy and sell a house. All beyond my control. Still, it makes paying a realtor seem like a reasonable expense.
