Gives me a twinge

posted in economy, humour |

He was “just funnin’ with me”, right? When the guy on the news presented his story, I felt a sharp twinge. Maybe life isn’t as easy as I thought. War? Famine? Drought? None of the above.

He told us that the local housing market has slowed. Too much product and too little desire on the part of those with deep pockets. A house might take time to sell. Please, let it be a passing phase. I like this house, but I intend to like the NEXT one even more. Mind, I’m not ready to plant a “come hither” on the front lawn just yet, but from here on in, I’m going to be nervous.

The daily newspaper (the one that I get) has announced that it might be getting out of the paper part of the business. This may seem like old news; after all, the owners did mention the possibility. But, today the employees were called together and told that “the times are changing”. Am I ready? Yeah, I’m good with the idea. Less recycling every two weeks.

Are you troubled by “spoilers”? The ones that deal with visual media, not tuned cars. Glad I cleared that one up. Anyhow, would it change the way you watch a movie (or TV show) if you knew how things would turn out. No spoilers here; I’m behind on pretty much everything right now. Which means I’m on thin ice, all the time. A mention in social media, or around the office, and I’ll know exactly who did what to whom. That also gives me a twinge (slight).
