Fast, new (or is it new, fast) food
Family dining, in our neighbourhood, is evolving. This evening, our weeks and weeks of waiting were over. Finally. A chance to get our fill of the uncle, grandpa, mama, insufferable teen… a new A&W, within easy driving distance. The Quiznos monopoly (on that stretch of ring road) has ended. Pictures on the wall, of long, long ago. Huge (huge!! mugs of root beer. And in a nod to change, the cutest little fryer baskets, made of metal, to hold the onion rings. All the other fast-foodies are condemned to playing catch-up with their ketchup.
We’re now up to two laser printers in need of the ‘maintenance kit’. Big dollar signs, for the end of a fiscal period. In order to try and forecast which department might be next on the list, my morning involved visiting each printer. After pushing a few buttons, out spewed pages of data, and I then published a historical matrix to show age, use and tray census. One of the machines (they all come from Lexmark) has been on for close to a decade. Continuously. With a page count approaching a half-million. Impressive, in a sad way. No environmental anything going on here.
My latest smart phone app takes a picture (of someone), plays with a database located far away and then purports to show how much the subject resembles someone famous. In my case, 59% similar to someone I have never heard of. That kind of fame should get me free beer… in an alternate universe.
The kid in the department brought his new kid to work today. With the ‘new baby smell’ and all. Not much of a conversationalist (either of them).
