Ramped up rhetoric

posted in humour |

This time yesterday, the government was en route to reducing military expenses by cutting hazardous duty pay. This time today, the minister has denied that news story. He has laid the blame for a poor policy shift on the shoulders of some unnamed civil servants. Pardon my heightened sense of disbelief. In what parallel universe do the civil servants make policy decisions?

I’ll be waiting to see how this one plays out.

On to other bits and bites.  The Glorious Leader in North Korea continues to ramp up the rhetoric. There might be a launch of a missile, soon. Or not. Wait and see.

Completed my final exam for the online course, today. Perfection is so rare, so fleeting.

My spit screen and cat’s cradle have arrived from China. The cradle isn’t the colour I ordered, but I will not go through several months of poorly translated email messages to clear up the error. I can use a permanent marker as well as the next kid at the table. Maybe the “dye job” won’t happen right away, but the option remains open.

Finished reading 419 by Will Ferguson. I’m willing to recommend this one, even if it doesn’t have the high adventure of a Clancy or a Cussler. The spirit behind some of the spam I throw away (virtually) at work now makes more sense, and I’ve taken my (virtual) car for a ride in Nigeria. Education for the new millenium. And in passing, I don’t care if your late husband/wife/father/mother/brother/sister/friend has suitcases full of cash waiting for my personal touch. I’m content. Keep on looking, Mr. Moneybags.
