Split the group and profit from the situation
Took the best part of the week, but I finally went to the beach. Not near, not above; on, with bare feet in the sand and the water. Briefly. Even spent some time hunting the elusive sea glass, but I think this particular beach has been fished out. Too many eagle-eyed tourists and not enough storm sea.
But at least I’ve been, and if I go tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that it’s just a bonus. Think I will.
The laundry is also done. With a full campground and one set of machines, that’s worth bragging about. It requires an early start to the day, and it requires lining up with the right combination of coins, in case you lose your place in line. While we waited, the neighbour brought out her photo albums. Special content: the trip to China to adopt their child. The same one that dances around the picnic table at the drop of a hat (or a tune).
Another trip to town, this time because we had a plan for another family supper. Didn’t work out quite that way. Something to do with an expanded participant count, which put us beyond the available space in the restaurant of choice. Hey, I’m flexible. We simple broke with the others and went our separate way. To the Water Prince Corner Shop.
Two years in a row, we’ve arrived without the recommended reservations. Asked politely, waited demeurely, received a seat within minutes. Given the speed of service, I barely had the chance to get the ereader into action before my chowder was served. Followed quickly by a mix of haddock and halibut (we plate shared) cooked to perfection. I could learn to like this kind of cuisine.
