Some things work
My vacation isn’t over, yet. However, I did wake at the regular time, and provided a support role for a ride into the city. Funny, when you ride the bus there are a slew of aggravations that don’t get noticed. For example, a car is a cold place to start the day (in January). The windows take a long time to clear, even with the fans on turbo speed. The other drivers are driven, dangerously driven. Can someone pass the word that passing on the right to insert into slowed circulation isn’t productive.
Back home, I realized that having a new stove means doing more than admiring the clock (24-hour mode really suits me). More bananas to blend, more roasts to slowly char. Above all else, the motto is “No muss, no fuss”.
I came this close to dogsitting today. Let me show you that again: this close. A call from #1 son, checking my availability. A call from the significant other of #1 son, cancelling the request. Too short a time to merit playing dog taxi. OK. I would have liked the chance to play with a puppy, but some things just aren’t meant to be.
The afternoon mail brought a replacement keyboard for one of the laptops. Kudos to Dell for providing service manuals online, for marking the various screws with clear indications, and for using connectors that don’t self destruct when touched by human fingers. The total time, from start to test and make sure the space bar now worked was measured in minutes. Five of them. I like it when a task doesn’t turn into a labour fit for Hercules.
