Hill and dale and intervale

posted in food, travel |

Packing the night before, getting up with the rising sun, deciding on the direction to travel; the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. At an hour where we would usually be boiling water for coffee, we were already on the boat.

Today, the autopilot feature put us in Cape Breton before lunch. And that, with a stop in Antigonish to check out more model homes. Think Lego, where a two storey house with garage comes wrapped in five individual parcels. And then, it snaps together with nary a seam visible.

But back to the “other island”. Lunch (a delicious soup and salad combo) at the Red Shoe Pub in Mabou. Lemon and blueberry dressing; Kraft needs to expand their product line.

A tour of the Glenora distillery, where the term “single malt” was demystified. Stops at two shops selling fiddle CDs (my Jerry Holland collection has grown). Hills and dales and intervales, all on a sunny afternoon.

Still 02

There was a motel room with our name on it in Cheticamp, along with a booth (the winner in the table versus battle). Stuffed sole. Further clarification on the mysterious bilingual society locally. A chance to catch up on net business, due to a fast wifi connection. All on a sunny afternoon…

Now, this doesn’t mean that vacation is ongoing, or coming to an end. We don’t know, yet. Tomorrow is a better day for decision making (and taking).

Tonight, I have a good book to read, or a few episodes of network comedy to watch, or I might just sleep. After all, I am the master of my destiny.
