More music than most weeks
Two evenings in a row; music I want to listen to, on network TV. How unusual is that?
Just yesterday, at the point where I was ready to shut it all down and try sleep as a form of exercise, up comes Kate Quinn, sporting a familiar accent. Then she switched (for an interview) into French, and I learned that this was a real, true, honest-to-rosin special with her cousin Natalie MacMaster and friends. Yes, Andrea and Troy and Howie can play, but Nat pwns!
Tonight, different venue. We’re off to Hollywood for the weekly insult hour. Yes, American Idol has rare talent. No, Simon doesn’t always know best. When Fox cut away to commercials just before he gave his two pence on Crystal Bowersox, I knew that switchers have a sense of humour.
And then, fasten your seatbelts. This week, Glee was all Madonna. A memorable episode, with some of the best production numbers to date (although that Journey thing still ranks high). According to one report, each week is $3 million worth of effort; big money, but it’s bringing big success. How many series can afford to go on hiatus in the middle of the season?
No doubt about it; time for me to do the old butt kick and start practicing again. Winter is over. I’m running out of excuses (to myself). Which instrument should I abuse first? Violin, guitar, flute, bass, drums, brass? Technically, I can’t do them all at once. Should I flip a coin? How does that work with a multiple choice question?
